Discussion Week 2: Career planning

Within the Discussion Board area, write a one page that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas:

Knowing why you want to enter into the field you have chosen or advance within your current career is important. It is equally important that you have a thorough understanding of the organizations and job opportunities within your target field. Research is the key to a successful job search, and it will be of great benefit to you as you target specific organizations and fields. For this assignment, complete the following:

Create a list of 10 organizations and their Web sites that fit within your target job market (provide links to the websites) (1 of which can be your current organization). Input them into your Target Organization Template List. As you conduct your research, consider the potential that each organization offers.
Next, choose 3 organizations to focus on, and compile detailed information about those 3 organizations in the Target Organization Template List.
Upload the list as an attached document to the Discussion Board area.
In 3–4 paragraphs within the Discussion Board area, share the following information with your classmates for the 3 organizations you researched (for those of you who want to advance within your current organization, this is an excellent opportunity to think through where you may want to grow within your organization or field):
The name of the organization
The mission of the organization
Career options within the organization
3 aspects of the organization that align with your goals
ensure you answer all sections and bold and center titles as necessary. Provide atleast two references (APA), Use APA formatting.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument
