Discussion on the Trolley Problem
Note 1: Please no Outside source
Note 2: please, for a citation I do not want any format but instead
1. To cite the author use this format: (Author Last Name, page #). For example (Burroughs, 14) So, you can use this format for citing sources in writing assignments at the end of relevant sentences.
2. For a podcast or video, you won’t have a page number, so you can just list the speaker’s last name without a page number.
Prompt: In the Trolley problem video (Links to an external site.) (the video you watched for your Interactive Learning Activity for Module 4), you are asked to consider the ethically right course of action in a challenging (and highly hypothetical!) thought experiment. With the train bearing down the tracks, you can either (1) do nothing and the train would plow into five people or (2) you can flip a switch and the train would plow into one person. Imagine you were placed in this scenario (i.e. standing next to the switch). Unfortunately, for the purposes of this thought experiment, no other courses of action or inaction are available to you. What would you do and why? Explain your decision.
