You are to present 5 sources that you will use in your research paper. Your research paper should ultimately use 8-12 sources, so all of your sources do not have to be in the bibliography. However, you should include many of those sources. At least two of your final sources MUST be a book, two academic journal articles, and two multimedia sources (video or sound clip, film, etc.) so while not every source you will use will be in the annotated bibliography, be aware of this as you continue to conduct your research. In addition to presenting the Works Cited information for each entry, you must describe the entry in 5-10 sentences (this is the “annotated” portion of the bibliography). The information you should include is:
1) Summarize the information given in the source. What is the main idea? The main supporting points?
2) Why will this source be useful for you in your paper? What information in the source can you use for your own purposes?
—In other words, how does this source support your working thesis, oppose your thesis, or offer background on your topic? Be specific!
3) Which side does it favor and why? How will you deal with this in your essay? Be wary of who published or wrote your sources!
4) Evaluate the source using the criteria posted in the Module.
