Hi Alisha,
Moral distress comes from situations. It can cause frustration, anger, and a sense of helplessness. Saver (2022) describes building moral resilience to cope with moral distress. She suggests developing self-awareness, being mindful, understanding your own values and analyze ethical dilemmas, knowing when to advocate for your patient, and preserving the integrity of yourself and others on the team. By building moral resilience, the sentiments of moral distress can be reduced. Unsettled moral distress can negatively impact the quality of patient care, which could lead to adverse outcomes.
