Write a personal essay of no more than three pages (follow MLA format) in the style of an Indigenous storyteller. Choose a moment carefully; it must be personally meaningful, but share only what you are comfortable sharing. You must relate the details of the event in the form of an anecdote. Next, reflect on the lesson that can be taken from this anecdote. Consider how this event has changed you and made you wiser. This is not merely a story about an event in your life, but it is, more importantly, an analysis of how this event has shaped you as an individual and affected the way you view the world at large.
In your introduction, you must interest the reader with an appropriate anecdote and write an explicit thesis that states the lesson itself. The body of the essay must be an analysis of how the event has affected you and why the lesson itself is significant. You must include five rhetorical devices within your essay. (In addition to the anecdote) Don’t forget to end your piece of writing with a clear and fitting conclusion that offers the reader a final summative insight that this experience has given you.
The evaluation for this piece of writing will be based on how eloquently you present your ideas, the depth of your analysis, along with your effective use of the English language. Since this is a personal essay, you may use the first-person point of view. You may also write in the past tense as this essay requires both reflection and reminiscence
