write 35 glossary In the study chosen Article
The entries for each word/term/concept should be 1 sentence definition written in your own words (but consult a dictionary to make sure you understand the word or term). Add an additional 1 sentence explaining the significance or relevance of the word for community justice or any course topic(s). and listed in alphabetical order by first letter. Each set of 30 words should be sorted by first letter of the word. Best to keep words starting with the same letter on the same page – 1 letter per page.
To earn 9-10 points, a student needs about 80 words very well explained, and neatly presented. You will need to take pictures of your pages or scan your pages or note cards and upload them on Blackboard Board.
Examples:
Agency: capacity of an individual to actively make their own choices and create change; asserting self-determination. Engaging community members includes recognizing that many people do not have the same level of agency, which leads to imbalance or inequality – and the need to develop agency in people. {Optional to include what reading it comes from, in this case Farmer 2005 is one reading that uses the term. Or in the significance sentence mention the reading: Farmer (2005) found that developing a sense of agency in youth helped them to take charge of community change.}
Adjudicating: to make a formal decision/judgement on a legal matter. Youth Courts engage teens in adjudicating some criminal matters with their peers.
{Note that the words starting with A don’t have to be in alphabetical order for the second letter; just all the A’s together, then the Bs, etc.}
Restitution: restoring what was taken or compensation for what was taken from its proper owners; or restoring/healing what was harmed. Restitution is a principle of restorative justice. Also restitution is often part of the claim for reparations to African Americans for slavery, Jim Crow segregation, and or institutional racism.
