Please read “Can Objects be Moral Agents?  Download Can Objects be Moral Agents? ” and answer the following questions.
1. Give a brief overview of the network or infrastructure of people/spaces/time/documentation/objects that make up the HCPS transportation system.
2. Why is responsibility such a challenge in posthuman contexts (Part I)?
3. Explain how Johnson and Johnson make sense of responsibility in the transportation system using Metonymy as a grounding concept (Parts III, IV, and V).
4. Use their heuristic (steps 1-4 at the end of the chapter) to BRIEFLY consider how responsibility might work in a context you experience regularly. Focus your application of the heuristic on an error or problem that might arise in such a context–perhaps a traffic collision, an appointment error due to a calendar glitch, your canvas account or email has a problem, you get the wrong talabat delivery, or your iWatch miscalculates your running distance. Are you able to apply the heuristic? Do your best to explore responsibility beyond human actors in the context. In some cases you will, and in others you will find you either don’t/can’t know the different pieces OR the system is entirely focused on people’s actions/agency as a site of responsibility. If this is the case, reflect on that, instead.
