Why are they important?

This is only the introduction part for a journal paper which is a literature review. All the references (Sources) should be research papers such as journal papers or conference papers. Do not include any other sources from the Web (webpages, articles written by non-researchers etc.). Note that this is a journal paper and all references should be scientific references. So the writer needs access to scientific journal papers from well known data bases such as sciencedirect. Do not include figures. At least 30 sources are required. You can add more if you want.
The outline for the introduction is shown below:
– Paragraph 1 [200-300 words] : General description for lithium-ion batteries.
– Why are they important?
– Uses.
– Comparison to other types of batteries.
– Lithium-ion battery components and what they do (Anode, cathode, current collectors, separator)
– Transition to separators only importance of the separator in the battery (What happens when it fails etc…).
– Paragraph 2 [300 words]: Separators types, mechanisms during charging and discharging.
– Separator Types available.
– What happens in the separator during charging and discharging (under operating conditions) ( Electrochemical reaction causing large volumetric expansion of the electrode materials, thermal changes, and mechanical and thermal stresses acting on the separator).
– Paragraph 3 [Unlimited words]: Studies investigating separators before and after charge and discharge.
– Microstructural characterization (Scanning electron microscopy[SEM], FTIR tests, XPS any other if you find).
– Mechanical testing (uniaxial tension or tensile tests under different conditions (Strain rates, temperature, etc…), punch testing).
