In class, students will share the journal article they found and lastly, how it intersects with the chapter content in the textbook of that week. Students will answer the following questions and submit them to canvas. 1. Write the source of the journal article in APA format as seen in reference sections. 2. What is the Purpose/Problem of Practice/Issue, and or Research Question or Hypothesis? 3. What Theoretical Framework was used? If no framework was provided of the empirical study, what world view, personal perspective, or theoretical perspective do you feel the author of the study is viewing their research from? 4. What Methodology did the researcher use and what was the targeted audience? – Observation / Participant Observation. – Surveys. – Interviews. – Focus Groups. – Experiments. – Secondary Data Analysis / Archival Study. – Mixed Methods (combination of some of the above) 5. What were the core findings and what does the data imply? 6. What was the biggest strength and weakness of the study? (What was missing?) 7. How does it contribute to the discipline of Criminal Justice did this research help change anything in society on a macro scale (Policy development, program enhancement, etc.)?
