Detailed – Comprehensive Summary for this Industry Report.
The PDF file titled “shifts in the low touch economy” examines the differences that we will face in the future of the pandemic and the world, with or without a virus. As a disclaimer, I do not know the date on which this article was published, so I can not confidently agree or disagree fully with the article because I am not 100% sure what point in time this article was written. As we all know by now, a few months can make a very large difference in the perspective in which we view things, such as the course of our economy. This article covers the main points and predictions for different business industries. This article also discusses what to expect in the coming years and talks about how to prepare, and what successful companies have done in the past when faced with adversity, such as a pandemic or a virus that we are facing today. In today’s world, nothing is certain. With that said, read this article with a grain of salt, do not be afraid to ask yourself questions and look for the answers on your own, because doubt propels knowledge into something useful and innovative.
COURSE OF THE ECONOMY
In the article, the author discusses how we lived will no longer be how we live in the future. In the first part of the article, the author talks about rules and policies fluctuating, as well as new habits that will stick with us far beyond Covid-19. Examples of these new habits include; Remote work, mixed work/life balance, access to e-commerce, and E-Health. I agree with this because I have seen this in my own life, but I still do not agree with the full $200 price tag my 15-minute phone call with the doctor gets me. The author goes on to talk about expecting many aftershocks within the economy. I do not know when this article was published, so I would be asking myself if those have already subsided because this has been quite the roller coaster. To close this argument, the author shows visuals discussing how nightlife will not be the same, or consistent for a while.
PREDICTIONS FOR DIFFERENT BUSINESS INDUSTRIES
The author shows a graphic, which is very intuitive because it covers a lot of bases. On one axis, it talks about the impact on the industries organization (Travel, Consumer goods, Oil, and e-commerce) while the other axis talks about the duration of impact. This graphic shows that catastrophically damaged industries, such as the tourism industry, might have to abandon their business if the impacts of covid 19 last longer than 3 years. On the other hand, the graphic discusses aggressive pushes for market demand within the industry of e-commerce, which is viable because E-commerse has only gotten bigger. However, there was a recent article published, I cannot remember by who, but they were talking about how Amazon might have overstepped their industrial footprint because they are seeing a drop in orders as more people are going outside and beginning to show on their own.
HOW TO PREPARE
The author goes over 10 categories of what to expect in the future years. These preparatory texts range from what to expect in the remote therapy industry, to what will happen at home with working remotely. One shift that I do not quite understand is the rising tension and conflicts at all levels slide. This is because I do not quite see the correlation between lawyers shifting to digital ways of working and rising tensions. If anything I would think that tensions would be higher if lawyers were in the office, face to face. One shift that I wholeheartedly agree with is the shift that is showing that our identity as humans is more than just a job. Being at our jobs less has done some justice to the people who had the opportunity to take time off and see who they are. Gone are the days where you are introduced by your marital status and your occupation, one of these days you might be introduced as the guy who likes to play video games for hours on end, or the woman who does yoga 3 hours a day because she just can.
WHAT SUCCESSFUL COMPANIES HAVE DONE IN THE PAST
Finally, at the back end of the article, the author discussed the ideas that past companies had that propelled them into Fortune 1000 companies today. It was the idea of switching to offense from defense. If a company can learn the new market and identify the shifts, then it is very possible that they can end out on top of the industry if they play their cards right. It is equally possible that the very same company loses it all from not doing anything and not changing with the times. The author gives timelines for companies to set change within their walls to stay alive, and they also give insights from Alibaba and Sanofi, companies that got hit hard by covid and SARS, but are now on top of their game due to quick business thinking decisions.
Which are the three most CRITICAL ISSUES for this Industry Report? Please explain why? and analyze, and discuss in great detail …
One critical issue was that I did not know the time at which this was published. Had I have to know what month or year this was written, I would be able to tell if their predictions were right. Additionally, I would be able to tell if this was old news or new news.
Every day the market changes. If this was published at the first break of the virus, the viewpoints would probably be different if they had created the article recently. This is because new laws have changed, and people’s opinions have changed about the virus, which is stopping the practical side of things.
One more issue that I have noticed with this industry report is that they expect tourism to drop off the face of the earth, especially international travel. I do not think that is the case and I believe that it is inappropriate to say such a thing. International tourism will always be a thing, if people have not been outside of their country in three years, they will most definitely want to be anywhere but their hometown when the restrictions are lifted.
This also ties into the fact that I do not know the publication date. We are nearing the 3-year mark from the start of covid, but I still see a lot of international and domestic travel. I think it is unfair to say that an industry should be abandoned because I have never heard of a whole industry dropping everything and leaving.
Finally, one issue that was brought up talks about increased loneliness post covid. This is because people were forced to be by themselves, which does not always end well.
An alternative discusses how pets have played a huge role in the sanity of people who live alone or do not socialize much anymore.

Which are the three most relevant LESSONS LEARNED for this Industry Report? Please explain why? and analyze, and discuss in great detail …
One lesson I learned is about pivoting as a business to stay afloat. When I make decisions, I think hard about them before I make a move. This will always take more time than just taking quick think about it and pivoting as a company to save ourselves.
This article made me see the importance of pivoting and making quick decisions to have a competitive edge. This is not only a competitive advantage, but it also speaks o the fact of leadership skills and who you are as a person.
This article also talks about playing the offensive. Making quick decisions and taking care of your employees is a big plus in the industry of rapid growth. This is because of the rate of retention as well as many other factors of the business game.
Finally, the last lesson that I have learned is the lesson that if you take care of your employees and listen to them, they will perform for you. Many employers overlook their employees and see them as just a stat. Taking their emotions and feelings into consideration, you can help them be more productive and engaged in the mission of the company.
Growing up, I was always working and I have had a lot of employers, all with different leadership skills. The job that I was most upset about leaving was the job that had a boss that asked me what I needed to have to succeed, and they listened.
Which are the three most important BEST PRACTICES for this Industry Report? Please explain why? and analyze, and discuss in great detail …
I am not quite sure what is meant by this question, but I need to discuss it in great detail. In terms of the structure of the Article, I think that it was very well put together. One aspect of this is that the author includes a visual on every slide.
This is wildly important because it allows the audience to stay engaged. Additionally, the visuals help the audience understand what is being covered and keep the word count short. If the word count took up the whole screen, then most of the audience would disengage.
Another best practice is the font choice. If I had 3 minutes to read this paper, I would look at all of the bold points to obtain the general idea of the article and move on to something else.
This is very important because if I lose track of where I am in a reading, I can look back at the bold writing to see what I was trying to understand. I do not have this problem because the visuals are big enough and the word count is small enough.
Finally, my last and most important best practice would have to be about the topic of business transitions. This can be used in real-life situations. Take covid quarantine for example. The people who took advantage of the situation and learned new skills ended up on top.
This can also be applied to business because it is what we read about. If we can find a way to stay on our toes at all times in business, we cannot be blindsided.
