he Research Memo is intended to give you the opportunity to explore a topic that’s of interest to you in greater depth. For example, for Module 8, you can look at the list of Key Terms and perhaps write a memo on ‘What is the future of the digital wallet?’ (this is my idea and I want yours, so that’s not usable). I am looking for trends, controversy, and depth rather than descriiption. A narrow topic will likely be more successful than a broad topic. That is, a memo on ‘What is e-commerce’ would likely be descriiptive information that does not demonstrate depth of research. Any questions on acceptable topics should be sent to me for guidance.

I expect this to be formatted for easy reading by a busy manager. That means short paragraphs, headings, bulleted/numbered lists, tables, etc. No underlining. Avoid passive voice and first person.
Make this look like an actual memo: To (Dr. Goldring), From (your name), Date, Regarding; (Purpose). No mention of SOBA 203 or Fall 2021
Headlines should be several words that enable a manager to quickly skim.
11 pt. font and 1.5 spacing is acceptable. 12pt Times Roman with double spacing looks like an academic paper and this is a business memo.
ONE illustration is optional; however you must provide text that introduces why the illustration/table is there and it must be readable. All illustrations must be sourced using Word’s Insert > Caption function.
LIVE LINKS on the text itself are required using Word’s Insert >Link. Example: In 2018, the global cosmetic market grew an estimated of 5.5 percent (Links to an external site.)in comparison to the previous year. Shorten the URL to relevant text. For example, link on the text “grew an estimated 5.5 percent” not https://www.statista.com/statistics/297070/growth-rate-of-the-global-cosmetics-market/
No references at the end. No links at the end of the paragraph. It must be in the sentence where you are using the information to support your statement
Research Quality: You must have at least two links with a maximum of four links to high quality publications or experts in the field. NO ACADEMIC JOURNALS. You are not using the textbook or any other textbooks as sources. Please consider going beyond Google searches and go directly to high-quality trade publications or high-quality consultancy sites. Use the library online databases. Reach out to the Reference Librarian via the Ask the Librarian function.
The word count should be 500 words, but may range from 475-600 words.
