    In this assignment, you will begin to explore a community-based organization around which you will develop the major assignment for this course: a proposed legislative/ policy advocacy plan that employs a stakeholder analysis-based community needs assessment and specific measures for advocating (e.g., political outreach, social marketing) and evaluating the proposed plan.

    After reading and reflecting on this unit’s readings and other learning assets, write a paper that speaks to the organization and a particular program or goal you will address. As you did in your discussion posts, please use section headers. In your paper. discuss:

    How does your organization define its “community,” and under what standards or elements is that defined?

    How does the organization define “health” of that community, and what standards or definitions does it use to do so?

    How do YOU see “community” and “health” in the context of the organization you are analyzing? Has the organization missed important definitions or contexts?

    This assignment should be 2-3 pages single-spaced, in APA Editorial Format with proper reference citations.

    CLO 6. Articulate and differentiate the purpose and primary goals of major health promotion/education programs (e.g., Health People 2020, Health Communities Institute, WHO Healthy Cities Initiative, etc.). (ties to PLO 3)

    MLO 6. Design and propose a comprehensive legislative/policy advocacy plan that incorporates the findings of a program evaluation, stakeholder analysis, and community needs assessment, including a means of evaluating the program’s outcome. (ties to CLO 4)

    MLO 9. Analyze and differentiate major government and non-government health promotion and education programs and their purposes. (ties to CLO 6)

    MLO 10. Assess and differentiate the connection between these programs’ efforts and local health promotion/public health programs. (ties to CLO 6)

    You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly.     Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

    The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument
