In the Presenting Research Findings Project, you will be presenting an outline of your research project in which you will record a 3-5 minute overview of your research paper providing a minimum of 5 slides discussing an introduction defining information literacy, a descriiption of the present state of your profession (within the past 10 years), past (over 100 years ago), outlook or possible future, and conclusion. You may choose to use a text-only presentation or incorporate photos. However, if using graphics, such as a photo from a web page, you must provide an APA or MLA citation giving credit to the original author. You are required to use authoritative resources to support your thoughts in your presentation and provide complete APA or MLA citations for the resources used in each slide along with in-text or parenthetical citations. You may use excerpts from your Final Semester Project paper; however, your slides should NOT include long blocks of text. Instead, it is recommended that you place key points using bullets on your slides and use the excerpts as notes to describe your key points.
Required Presentation Slides
Introduction Slide (place at the very beginning of your presentation):
Include the title of the course, such as USTD3003: Information Literacy for University Studies Majors
Include the semester and year, such as Fall 2019
Include your first and last name
Slide 1: Title of your Final Semester Paper, such as “Nursing’s Past, Present, Future, and the Importance of the Information Literate Professional (Be sure to include a heading like this in your presentation slide)
• Provide a definition of your profession
• For example:
• Cite an authoritative encyclopedia or dictionary, such as from Magale’s Credo Reference ebooks, OR
• Article such as from Magale’s EBSCOHost or ProQuest databases
• Provide a definition of information literacy based on the ACRL’s Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education document.
• Provide at least one citation of the resource used on the slide in APA or MLA style
Slide 2: The Current Status of (the Chosen Profession) (Be sure to include a heading like this in your presentation slide)
• Provide an overview of what your chosen profession is like currently or within the past 10 years
• Provide at least one citation of the resource used on the slide in APA or MLA style
• All resources for your presentation and paper must be authoritative and come from Magale Library’s collections
Slide 3: The History of (the Chosen Profession) (Be sure to include a heading like this in your presentation slide)
• Provide an overview of what your chosen profession was like 100 or more years ago
• Provide at least one citation of the resource used on the slide in APA or MLA style
• All resources for your presentation and paper must be authoritative and come from Magale Library’s collections
Slide 4: The Future of (the Chosen Profession) (Be sure to include a heading like this in your presentation slide)
• Provide an overview of what your chosen profession might be like in the future
• Provide at least one citation of the resource used on the slide in APA or MLA style
• All resources for your presentation and paper must be authoritative and come from Magale Library’s collections
Slide 5: Conclusion (Be sure to include a heading like this in your presentation slide)
• You should summarize the transformation of your profession
• You may choose to address any personal reflections you have about the research process as you will in the Reflection section of your paper
