Topic Information: Among the greatest expenses associated with airline operations are fuel costs. In past years when fuel prices were rising rapidly, airlines used hedging methods to reduce the procurement risks for sourcing fuel. The two articles listed below highlight the experiences of three large airlines using different fuel hedging approaches.

Review the uploaded/provided articles and write a case study report to analyze the effectiveness and value of fuel hedging by airlines.
In the case study report, begin with a summary overview outlining the main logistics issues facing the companies.
Then, add detail and analysis by responding to the following topics and questions:
Describe how each airline used procurement methods to hedge against fuel cost increases.
Explain what internal and external considerations are relevant to the airlines’ decision to hedge fuel prices?
Evaluate the relative effectiveness of each airline’s approach to hedging.
Provide an analysis of which method was most successful and describe what factors made the difference in success or failure of the hedging method.
Discuss the logistics lessons to be learned from the hedging efforts of the airlines. Do you think airlines, in general, will continue to use fuel hedging in the coming months and years?
Explain why you think so, and justify your answer with data or findings from the research and professional literature.
The case study must be a minimum of 2 full pages (not including the title and reference page) in length and must utilize the provided/uploaded sources.
The case study must use aviation language/vocabulary/terminology and be written using US English.
The case study must review of the assigned topic including a cover page, introductory overview, body of the report, case summary, and formal references page in correct APA 7th edition format.

The case study must address the case topics with sound analysis and reasoning in a logically organized, systematic report.
The case study conclusions must be based on the data and information provided in the case and from the research literature selected by the student.
The case study report should reflect an understanding of the provided/uploaded material and the overall emphasis of the course.
The case study must be well written with correct grammar, spelling, word choice, and usage. Limited use of quotes within the paper, and no material copied from sources without being shown and cited as a quotation.
The case study must use current APA 7th edition guidelines in citations and references and the information presented must be evident in the cited and referenced material.
