This week’s discussion has 5 parts:
1. Choose a practice that encourages a sustainable food culture.
Here are some options:
farmer’s markets
volunteering on an organic farm
polyculture
repurposing rejected (but still healthy) food (AKA
dumpster diving/freeganism)
propose something to the instructor via email
2. Do a little research on that topic.
For example if you choose to research farmer’s markets,
visit a local farmer’s market for at least 1/2 hour, and take about a page
of handwritten notes.
For example, if you choose to research freeganism, get
into contact with a freegan via the Freegan website. See if you can join
them on a nearby outing, and take about a page of handwritten notes on the
outing.
For example, if there is an organic farm opportunity
near you, see if you can spend a little time volunteering, and take about
a page of handwritten notes on the volunteering experience.
3. Type your notes and post them here.
4. Write one paragraph explaining whether or not you believe this
practice creates food justice.
