This week for our discussion I want to talk about feedback in the workplace. This relates to human resource management as often times you will receive feedback from two different sources. One being your direct supervisor. The second being the human resource department. It is very well studied and documented that different age groups receive and view feedback differently.
One indicator of a manager’s strength as a leader is their ability to effectively deliver feedback to employees. They must learn how to adjust their approach based on the personality of the employee. Since most workplaces now have employees representing nearly every generation, managers can get a head start by understanding how each generation generally prefers to receive feedback – both constructive and positive.
I want you all to give your own perspective on feedback. For those of you that are in the workforce, talk about how your manager currently gives you feedback, what you like and dislike about their current method, how you would give feedback if/when you are in a management position, etc. For those that are not in the workforce, you still all get feedback on a daily basis. You get feedback from your instructors, from your parents/guardians, etc. Talk about how you view feedback, how do you use the feedback you get, etc.
Again, you all did very well with Discussion #2. Show just as much thought and effort as you did with that discussion post and you will receive a good grade. I am looking for one initial post as well as one reply to one of your classmates. Both post are due prior to Sunday.
