INSTRUCTIONS:
Chapter 1 introduces the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) signed into law in 2010. This act is also referred to as Obamacare. Since a primary role of social workers is to access resources for clients served and that can include assisting with obtaining healthcare coverage; it is important that social workers gain understanding into how clients are impacted by policies/laws. The ACA underwent changes under the Trump Administration and the Biden Administration is facing challenges related to this healthcare resource today. After reading the articles below and utilizing sources found on your own, discuss your personal views on whether you think the ACA should be continued, abolished, or if you would suggest another type of healthcare plan for Americans. Also include the current views of each political party (Democrat and Republican) and discuss their stance on the ACA and if they are supporting to continue or abolish this health coverage. Information on political views may need to be researched; include your resources.
