3- What is audience segmentation? How does a “segmented” audience differ from the traditional “mass” audience? On what basis are audiences segmented? Describe one real-world media example of the use of segmentation.

In that context, what ARE the commercial media REALLY selling? How does that often affect content – ESPECIALLY on the broadcast side?
11- From the development of movable type printing to the rise of satellite radio and television, the technological “cutting edge” (whatever that looked like or meant at the time…) has had significant influence on the development of the mass media. Using examples from your text, class discussions and your own thinking about the subject, outline the three technological “developments” that you believe to have had the most impact.
