These papers are designed to provoke critical thinking about the topics presented. Each paper should be
no longer than two double-spaced pages and include all standard writing practices (e.g., 12-point Times
New Roman, Black Ink, Double Spacing). Papers will be graded based on students’ understanding of
literature and theories, uniqueness of thought, clarity and succinctness of writing style and accuracy of
grammar and spelling.
Movies and Memory (30 points, Due July 5). For this paper, students should choose a movie that they
believe particularly demonstrates one of the concepts regarding memory. Please briefly summarize the
movie, clearly explaining how memory is incorporated. Then, using the book and lectures, explain why
you believe the movie does/does not accurately reflect psychological principles regarding memory.
Based on your knowledge, what do you believe the eventual outcome for the character will be? Are
there ways in which the character’s memory could be improved? Students may not use 50 First Dates
or any of the Bourne Identity series as their movie.
