– The paper should be about 1250-1500 words long (~5 double-spaced pages), conform to the conventions of standard English and grammar,
and follow MLA style. The essay should be typed in a standard font (such as Times new Roman or Arial) and should be double spaced.
-This essay must compare two different poems that come from two different sections of the book. You may choose to compare two poems
that have very different forms in order to explore how those different forms relay deeper meaning to the reader. Alternatively, you may choose to compare two poems that have similar forms and discuss how that similar form is used similarly or differently to convey deeper meaning in
their respective contexts in the book. There should be a clear analysis of each poem and its form as well as a comparison between the two
made in this essay.
-The essay should have a clear argument that responds to the prompt. The essay should compare the two poetic forms using appropriate
terminology and then should delve deeper to explain how the poetic forms contribute meaning to the poems within the context of the larger
work. The essay MUST include analysis of the form (the way the poem is written) in addition to the content of the poems.
