“The Fracturing of the Genres” is the title of the final week’s videos – emphasizing that as the 1960’s comes to a close, “Rock” music begins to look a lot more like it does today – many different styles, sub-genres and vocabularies each having their distinct practitioners – and audiences. Identify two current/contemporary songs (released within the LAST 5 YEARS) that you think fall into a specific “sub-genre” of rock music. For each song, explain your “genre reasoning” (NOT Google’s) with specific musical examples found within the songs. Be sure that each song is not from the same “sub-genre”!
