The field experience report will be based on your field work in an ESL setting (a pull-out ESL, a
push in
ESL, or in a general classroom with ELLs) and will consist of approximately 3 pages (APA format). At
least 10hrs.(15 hrs. for TESOL candidates) should be spent in the field, and you will systematically
be documenting observations and fieldwork experience throughout the semester. It is
recommended that you interview the teacher whom you observe to get a deeper understanding of
the teacher’s pedagogical
approach.
Candidates will visit a site where they can observe ESOL strategies in practice – either a
self- contained ESOL classroom, or a sheltered content area classroom where the language,
academic, and social needs of ELLs are systematically and intentionally being addressed,
(10 hrs. for mainstream/15 hrs. for BE/ESOL candidates). BE/ESOL candidates need to dedicate at least one session in a classroom where differentiated learning instruction for English language learners with exceptionalities is taking place.See Blackboard for video options that will be available as a substitute for classroom observations.
