For your paper, be sure to synthesize. Here is a re-cap of the directions:
Synthesize the results of the evidence from quantitative and/or qualitative studies. Logically present and analyze the evidence, comparing and contrasting the results from the studies.
This is not an annotated bibliography or a series of summaries of each article. Your paper should contain a synthesis of pertinent information from the evidence. Do Not review articles individually. The score cards are for individual reviews.
The body of your paper should not exceed 8-10 pages. Keep the rubric by your side when you write your paper. Include some of the rubric topics as your headers such as Review of the Literature (your synthesis) and Cultural and Contextual Factors. Include a labeled summary at the end of the paper.
Use 6-7 primary, quantitative, and/or qualitative research studies (that have been through IRB approval) for your score cards and paper. Be sure to include the full APA reference at the top of the score card.
For the paper, you can use one 1 filtered article such as a systematic review or meta- analysis, but this is not required (no scorecard needed as we do not have a score care for filtered articles).
Use other scholarly articles to support your theories (nursing, cultural) and change model. Try to find primary articles, meaning articles written by your chosen theorist. Many will be older than 5 years. Here is an example of a primary resource:
Orem, D.E. (1991). Nursing: Concepts of Practice (4th ed). Mosby-Year Books.
You should have a minimum of seven (7) sources (external evidence) that provide evidence about your proposed change in practice.
Six studies must be primary sources (quantitative and qualitative) and these require score cards.
You do not need a critique form for a filtered article such as a systematic review.
Five of these sources must be from peer-reviewed nursing or medical journals.
Two studies can be from other disciplines (if appropriate), but must also be peer reviewed.
You may use a clinical guideline as one of your sources, if appropriate. (you do not need a score card for a guideline as we do not have a scorecard for a guideline)
