What is the SBAR situation briefing model?
The SBAR tool is a strategy to improve communication from clinician to clinician, staff to manager, manager to staff.
SBAR was adapted from the US Navy Nuclear Submarine Service where submarine officers and crew needed a situational briefing model to communicate clearly, effectively and efficiently.
SBAR organizes the issue in a consistent and concise manner.
SBAR has now been adapted successfully into health care and is one of the primary communication tools being used.
