STEP ONE: Write an Annotated “Sexual Bucket List”
What are five sexual experiences you want to have before you die? For each experience, write a brief paragraph explaining it (you don’t have to go into every detail – just the highlights) and why is important to you to have the experience before you “kick the bucket” and die. Is it a fantasy of yours or do you simply want to say, “I’ve done that!”? Who else is involved in the sexual experience and what are the particulars? If it is illegal or immoral (you can be the judge of that), explain how you would justify it to the authorities or a higher power in going forth and experiencing it. At the end of the paragraph, address the following for each item (DO NOT USE BULLET POINTS!):
I first thought about having this experience when…
Actually “doing it” would be…
The reason I haven’t had the experience yet is…
To make the experience happen I need to…
I think actually having the experience would be…
STEP TWO: “Sexual Bucket List”
Once you have written your annotated “Sexual Bucket List,” choose one person close to you and share it in detail. As you have the conversation, ask what their impressions/responses are to your list. Does the person with whom you are sharing have a sex bucket list to reciprocate? Write a few paragraphs describing what it was like to share your lists, what conversation ensued, and what you personally gained from the conversation. How was writing a sexual bucket list and sharing it a sex positive experience? How does the assignment relate to sexual literacy, fluency, and agency?
Write up your actual list per the directions in Step One. Write up your paragraphs per the directions in Step Two and submit both as one document to Canvas by the due date in Word or PDF format. Write your pages in typical essay format with 12-point font, double-spaced, paragraphs, edited for grammar/spelling, etc.
