Social Cognition and Aging [WLOs: 1, 2, 3] [CLOs: 1, 4]
At any age, social activities bring about a sense of belonging and contribution to our family, friends, and community. The loss of an aging individual’s ability to remember dates, times, or faces creates a schism in the mind. Some diseases impact both social processes and social cognition; one such disease is Parkinson’s dementia, where the brain begins to disengage from sound reasoning and judgement. These behaviors can create a sense of depression, loneliness, or fear as the individual detaches from society for the sake of security. It should be noted that not all seniors are impacted by diseases that affect the processing of information and cognition.

Provide full reference entries at the end of your response for all sources cited. Please use correct APA formatting when writing in-text citations (see the In-Text Citation Helper (Links to an external site.) tutorial) and references (see Formatting Your References List (Links to an external site.)).
Guided Response: Reply to two or more peers. The goal of the discussion forum is to foster continual dialogue, similar to what might occur in a verbal face-to-face exchange. Consider the following questions in your responses:
How are your findings similar to or different from those discussed by your peers?
What is one area of opportunity and one area of strength in each of your peers’ posts?
What additional information can you add to your peers’ posts?
