Learning Goal: I’m working on a ethnic studies question and need guidance to help me learn.Hi, here is the prompt for the final essay that I need to submit by tommorw late night:Active Euthanasia. Should we legalize active euthanasia? Critically assess Dan Brock’s argument(s) and/or other arguments about active euthanasia. Consider and assess objections from Cohn & Lynn, and perhaps Mann if relevant.Further Prompting. Can the killing/letting die distinction do the work we want it to? Is it too fundamental of a distinction to give up on? Now that we have assisted suicide, do we really need AVE? What should we make of the slippery slope arguments? Is the slip to non- voluntary active euthanasia more problematic, as Brock argues? (See an argument for non- voluntary active in the beginning of the paper by Rachels (about the dehydrating baby). You may borrow arguments about assisted suicide and passive euthanasia when they are relevant to your thesis — after all, we are in part asking “What’s the difference?” Note that there is a second article by Brock that responds to some of Cohn & Lynn’s concerns. Decidewhether or not you want to take up slippery slope arguments. The Brock paper we read part of has an interesting section distinguishing what he sees as dangerous slopes and less dangerous ones. The paper by Peter Singer (text) supports active euthanasia, but this is not surprising from a self-proclaimed utilitarian. Singer’s paper does discuss Oregon and Holland, and this is helpful. See also “The Dutch Experience” (text).NOTE: Some articles like Cohn & Lynn & Patrician Mann are more about physician-assisted suicide (AS). Please focus more on active euthanasia, but you may mentionAS by way of contrast, if it helps advance your thesis. For example, now that we have AS in CA, is there any need for VAE? Advice: Keep in mind Cohn & Lynn’s distinction between justifying individual cases, and justifying a general policy. Now here are the explanations for the readings regarding Euthanasia:TH 1/20: EuthanasiaVocab: Extubation.
