COM-20091 Project Rubric feedback:
Hi Tanisha! Your project is not yet mastered, but we will discuss how to make it stronger. I’m Anne Morgan, one of the instructors for this course, and I reviewed your materials. All feedback is in chronological order, with the most recent feedback and newly completed auto-populated rubric criteria at the bottom of the general feedback box.
Now let’s talk about your project submission! You have included a good deal of sound material in the document. Most of the points that have not been earned are due to an absence of required criteria. Please see the comments below, pertaining to individual rubric items, for more details. If you have any questions, please reach out to me via the Private Channel for Discussions, and I will respond as promptly as I can.
Best regards,
Anne

Managing Audience Information: Describes a rule, regulation, or law that teams must follow to appropriately manage the personally identifiable information collected: I’m afraid I don’t see discussion about a rule, regulation, or law pertaining to the managing of audience information. Did I simply miss it? If there is no specific discussion of a rule, regulation, or law, please add such discussion. If I simply missed your discussion thereof, please revise that part of the discussion so that it’s more clear that fulfills this part criterion of the project rubric.
Managing Audience Information: Describes the repercussions of a real-world legal violation by a company or organization: Please include a clear example of the repercussions to a real-world organization of breaking the law, regulation, or rule that you describe for the previous rubric item.
Managing Audience Information: Describes a professional ethical standard that guides how the organization should manage audience information:Both transparency (an aspect of honesty) and recognition of diversity are important ethical consideration.
Managing Audience Information: Describes the repercussions of a real-world ethical violation by a company or organization: The Everlane Clothing debacle is an appropriate example to include here.
Using Audience Information to Strengthen Messages: Provides an example of how audience information can be used to strengthen messages for a target audience:
I did not see discussion of how to use audience information for strengthening message. Please include such information to fulfill the three rubric criteria associated with it.
General: Clearly conveys meaning with correct grammar, sentence structure, and spelling; shows understanding of audience and purpose: There are a few too many major errors of grammar for the reader to clearly and consistently follow the discussion. Please carefully proofread the document to locate and fix these errors. The final product need not be perfect, but it does need to contain sufficiently few errors that a reader would be neither confused nor distracted by them.
General: Lists sources where needed using citation methods with no major errors: You’ve done well in this area!

Subject: Ethical and Legal Training
Hello,
As you know, we had a board meeting last Friday. The board has been keeping a close eye on media coverage of other companies’ recent ethical and legal violations related to the misuse of audience information. The board wants to make sure that we are managing sensitive information in an ethical and legal manner. To respond to these efforts, I want to ensure all of our team members are fully aware of the legal and ethical guidelines surrounding this topic. Everyone at our company should understand what it means to adhere to these guidelines.
We have a team meeting next Wednesday, and I need you to develop an ethical and legal training for the team. I trust your expertise, so please present the information in whatever format you think is best. You can make a visual presentation, write up a training manual, or give a briefing to the team.
I want to be sure that the content of this training is relevant to the team. The training needs to outline the legal and ethical factors that employees must consider when they use audience information. Please focus on the following areas: gathering audience information, managing this information, and using the information to plan communications.
In the training, give real-world examples of other companies that have incurred legal and ethical violations related to the misuse of audience information. Describe the repercussions of these actions. I want to ensure that the team understands how these violations can occur and how they can negatively affect us.
Let me know if you have any questions.
In the meantime, happy Monday!
-Roberta F.
