As we’ve learned from the book First, Break All the Rules, effective performance management is about leadership, interpersonal relationships, constructive feedback, and teamwork. According to Buckingham and Coffman et al. 2014, “Give every employee the benefit of feedback. 360-degree surveys, personality profiles, and performance appraisal systems are all useful as long as they are focused on helping the person understand himself better and build upon his strengths.” A great organizational leader should offer frequent performance feedback and self-assessments to foster enhanced employee outcomes. While clearly communicating organizational and individual goals is an essential step for any agency, communication alone is not going to get you all that far. Great leaders need to check in with teams and employees periodically not only to gauge progress but also to provide feedback. Good performance feedback reinforces strong skill sets and positive behaviors while showing opportunity areas with a clear path for improvement. This type of feedback cannot wait until the organization kicks off an annual review cycle. Instead, it should be given in real time and integrated into company culture. Timely performance feedback is the best way to affirm your employees and their work while also shaping their work effectively. Buckingham and Coffman describe a self-assessment as task that asks each employee to keep track of their own performance and learnings. In a self-assesment each employee should determine their goals, successes, and other pertinent discoveries. These assessments serve as a way to help each employee take responsibility for their own performance.
Both performance management and self-assessments can nurture a positive collaborative relationship. For instance, in my Head Start agency there is a positive collaborative relationship between the teachers and the occupational and speech therapists who provide essential services to our children. The teachers and therapists work together by sharing observations and anecdotal records with one another and by assisting one another in various IEP and IFSP meetings. 1- Budget deficits and national debt
2- Balance of payments
3- Social expenditures
Using graphs compare the above factors for the countries in trouble, PIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain) vs. other countries in the Euro zone like Germany and France that fared well and contrast which of the above factors may have contributed to the crisis.
The fact that all these countries were using a single currency and did not have the power to devalue their own currency could be another factor you need to consider when analyzing this issue.

This class has been extremely helpful. I have leaned so much about leadership and myself. Three things I had learned from is authentic, servant and adaptive leadership. Authentic leadership is an interpersonal process, authentic leadership is relational and is created by leaders and followers together. I didn’t realize that I had some of these traits. As I have stated before I often find myself the youngest person in at the table and I will admit I have strong leadership skills however there are some areas that I can grow in and continue to learn from other leaders as well (Northouse, 2019). Servant leaders place the good of the followers over their own self-interest and emphasizes follower development (Northouse, 2019 p. 228). I am definitely a servant leader; I have always wanted to prepare my employees to be better than our first encounter. COVID has changed the way we lead now and honestly forever. COVID is here to stay and we have to adapt to help others do the work they need to do to adapt to the challenges they face (Northouse, 2019). We have all been faced with a new way of life and challenges that will come as we navigate our next normal.
