There was a shift to cities was during the industrial revolution. Also what was necessary for urbanization is intentions for agricultural growth. The need for us to look at what current times are, and that there is soon not going to be enough agriculture and food grown to support the growing population. The reason that urbanization happened was that there were large groups of people who moved to more populated areas, oftentimes they are coastal towns, and this is also because it places that are trade routes. there are waterways often connecting major cities, and differences don’t stop when you compare the low population of rural areas to urban populated areas. There are more financial opportunities in cities or more urban areas. The social structure in urbanized areas changed drastically due to the influx of a much larger population. There is often more going on and this changes the climate of politics there’s often a large poverty line, especially during the shift from rural to urban. living conditions also change many times. There is much worse air quality and space for individuals, so people are in smaller quarters, and interaction is expected very often. Economic prosperity is often related to urbanization.
In Bangladesh, there are men at work who are often only paid a dolor a day. There are major ecological implications of the ship breaking where oil and slug are being poorer into the ocean. this is an example of the effects of urbanization today. The growth through increased urbanization in these areas is often not sustainable because it’s hard to worry about the future implication of harming the earth when someone is having trouble surviving. The ship breakers are used by many other counties to get rid of old ships without the protocol and cost that disposing of these ships in places like us would cost. How do you think this urbanization is different from urbanization it’s similar in some ways but there needs to be protection for children, the environment, and wage laws. what is being said is that that is not possible for people to keep jobs, there is just not enough stability.100 years ago things were a lot different in the United States but urbanization continues. I think the necessary thing to do is demand that the US and other countries dispose of the toxic waste before sending it to be disposed of. That’s the only solution I see currently.

Agriculture is in the rural area whereas manufacturing or servicing, it is in the urban area. The Industrial Revolution brought the movement of people to the cities. Changes in farming, population growth, and increasing demand for workers led to groups of people to migrate from farms to cities. Cities are densely settled area and more concentrated of people. Advances in scientific knowledge, the Green Revolution which led to high productivity of crops, chemical-based fertilizers, machineries, and tools. Technological advancement permits for development which increases productivity.
Besides the poor working conditions, the low pay, lack of accountability for workers on the job, but most importantly, they secrete toxic wastes into the environment. According to the shipyard’s owner, environmentalism is a luxury for the rich nations. Developed countries have more restrictions, regulations, and rules compared to the developing countries.
“Cities around the world are trying to become more livable, likable spaces and to do so in ways that are sustainable and that will allow them to thrive in a future of possibly scarce energy and water resources” (Sernau, p. 321). Public transportation, bicycling, and walking are ways to be sustainable in the city. Sometimes, it is probably better to use those three modes vs. being stuck in traffic. Urbanization is different back then because they are outdated with their resources. Advance technology comes with new and better innovations for the better of the people.
