****THIS CAN BE A VERY BRIEF AND STRAIGHT FORWARD PAPER
Action Items
Design a training session for your topic using the Gagne-Briggs model.
Note: You may not have all nine events in your training session. At a minimum, you must include:
Gain attention
Inform of goal
Present material
Elicit performance (some activity)
Provide feedback
Assess performance
If you do not have one of the nine events in your training session, justify why that event is not needed for your training session.
State which learning process is being affected for each step in your outline.
Perform a self-critique of your training design. Use the following criteria to evaluate your design.
Introduction:
Did it help establish the session?
Did it provide an overview of the topic?
Did it provide motivation to learn?
Did it catch the trainees’ attention?
Organization:
Was it clear, appropriate, and logical?
Training Methods:
Did the methods used invite involvement of the trainees?
Was there a variety of methods used?
Was there appropriate stimulus variation?
Was this appropriate for adult learners?
Write a 1-page paper that contains your response to each of the above questions and provide a rationale for your answers. If the answer is no, include a means of improving your design to address the concern. Format the paper according to General APA Guidelines (Links to an external site.). Attach your training design as an appendix to your paper.
Clarification – Training Module Project: Design
AS A POINT OF CLARIFICATION – For the Week 4 Assignment Design (Project), let me share some thoughts with you so you do not make this assignment any more complicated or lengthy than necessary! This assignment is designed for you to start focusing on the elements you will be including in your training session.
This assignment is two parts. First, you will start your paper by performing a self-critique of your training design. Use the criteria listed in the assignment under Action Items, number 3 to evaluate your design and write a 1- to 2-page paper that contains your brief responses to each of those questions with a rationale for your answers. If the answer is no, include a means of improving your design to address the concern. Format the paper according to General APA Guidelines. This is not an elaborate, detailed paper, but rather a quick assessment of what you are doing!
Then, you will create an “outline” of how you are addressing the Gagne-Briggs elements in your training session. It might be simplest to use a two-column table as your response (not a typical outline format), with the first column titled Gagne-Briggs Element and the second titled Training Event. When completed, you will attach your training design outline/table as an appendix to your paper.
When you create your outline, you will simply list the event that you will be doing and what Gagne-Briggs element is being met.
****So, for instance, for the element of Gaining Attention, you may list “icebreaker” and what exercise will be done and/or you may list “Introduction” and what events will be taking place under that topic to meet the criteria for the element, such as “interview each other in twos and introduce your partner to the class.”
****For the element of Informing the trainee of Goal, you may list “agenda review” and so on, going through the topics listed in the assignment and what you will be doing that meets at least 6 of the 9 elements. However, if you do not have one of the nine events in your training session, justify why that event is not needed for your training session.
