Discussion: Introduction Statement

The agency I am writing about is the The William T. Grant Foundation, formerly known as the Grant Foundation.

One of the first steps for completing your Prospectus is defining a good introduction statement. The introduction statement is essential in determining if you have a viable topic to go forward with your PAS. It needs to be thoughtful and not rushed. Take time to understand the requirements and explore resources for the components of a good introduction statement. You can find resources in the Weekly Resources, but you are encouraged to locate your own, too. You should be reviewing peer-reviewed articles to determine if your topic meets the requirements of a viable topic. You will be enrolled in DDPA 8400 for at least four quarters. Therefore, you will be working on the topic for a lengthy amount of time. Ensure it is one that not only meets the requirements but will keep you engaged throughout the process.
To Prepare
Review the PAS guidelines and rubrics in the Weekly Resources. Review the Doctoral Capstone Preproposal Start Kit. As a reminder, although this kit discusses capstones, the same principles will apply to your PAS. It is suggested you bookmark this page and refer to it often throughout your PAS journey Post 2–3 ideas of what you would include in the introduction statement of your PAS about your agency or organization(The agency I am writing about is the The William T. Assignment: Statement of Purpose
It is important to get started as soon as possible. Your Prospectus is the first step in getting approval to begin your PAS. The biggest mistake and holdup for students is not following the rubric and guidelines. It is critical to review these often and again before turning in any component of your Prospectus, Proposal, and PAS. Some of the things to keep in mind that are explained in more detail in the guidelines is that the PAS must be meaningful, justified, grounded, original, impactful, feasible, aligned, and objective. Think about if the scope is too large that it would take years to collect data? Is the topic too broad? Do data already exist to use, or will it even be possible to collect the data? Will your study create positive social change? Remember your goal is to get to graduation. You will have plenty of time after graduation to continue to expand on your research in different ways.
To Prepare
Review the requirements of the introduction statement in the PAS guidelines and rubric
Craft an initial introduction, statement of purpose, and rationale for your PAS. Be sure to consider the requirements of these elements:
Introduction to the study Statement of purpose Rationale for the study

I’m studying and need help with a Management question to help me learn.

The purpose of this assignment is for you to understand the importance of national culture on a global stage. Please research and find a situation where a company either started operating or introduced a new product into a new market and failed because they did not take culture into consideration. For example, Target entering the Canadian market, or Starbucks in Australia, or Home Depot in China. To not just look for failed products, we are looking for companies or products that failed because they did not pay attention to cultural differences.

If you use a religious example, please provide evidence as to why you would consider a religion culture.

Follow the steps:

Step 1: Search for a business case where culture was not taken into consideration. Do not use an example already mentioned in book or lecture. I would like you to find an unique case to you.

Step 2: Identify the company or the product, and describe the mistake they made.

Step 3: Resolution _ Explain what you would have done to resolve the issues if you were the manager in charge of the product launch when this happened. Here you will come up with solutions to fix the problem.

Step 4: Prevention _ Explain how you would have approached the situation in order to avoid the problem. Here you will come up with suggestions to avoid the problem.

* Be sure to cite your references.

RUBRIC – Assignment worth 5 points

Identification – 1 point

Search for a business case where the culture was not taken into consideration, identify the company and/or product. The uniqueness of the example will be taken into consideration.

Situation Description – 1 point

You need to provide a description of the situation and what error was made.

Resolution – 1.5 points

Looking to have you describe how you would have fixed the situation? Mistakes will happen. However, it is not the mistake that defines you, but more how you recover that will be remembered.

Problem Prevention – 1.5 point

Looking to see what you would have done as a manager to make sure this did not happen in the first place.

Be sure that you reference the resolution and prevention sections separately to ensure that you receive full marks for both components.

Up to .5 points can be deducted for poor grammar, misspelling etc. This may seem harsh, but I know many executives and company policies that will not look at proposals or resumes with spelling errors. You need to understand the importance of details now.

Up to 1 point can be deducted for not properly referencing your work. You need to reference where you found out about the company. If you are found to have plagiarized your work then you will be given a 0.
