Paper Requirements:
➢ Choose one global topic: Child Labor
➢ Paper must include:
o Background information on the topic in two countries
▪ an accurate description of the current situation regarding your topic
with relevant statistics, applicable historical and cultural background
information to help explain the ideas, values, and attitudes of each nation
o Progress being made in two countries
▪ the current laws and interventions being implemented by that country in regard to the topic
o Remaining challenges in two countries
▪ the problems that stand in the way of further progress
o View of Childhood of two countries
▪ what your findings suggest about the view/meaning of childhood in that country
Sources:
➢ Minimum of TEN sources total – 5 per country
o Six scholarly sources total – 3 per country
▪ Examples: Peer-reviewed journal articles, scholarly books, etc.
▪ Published within the last 10 years
o Four primary source materials – 2 per country
▪ ONE must be an artifact
• Explain the artifact and cite a non-scholarly source
▪ The second can be any primary source: interview, website, popular media,
case studies, census reports (from the country), etc.
Grading: (75 points)
➢ Papers will be graded on:
o Writing – 10 points
o APA style – 5 points
o Introduction – 5 points
o Conclusion – 5 points
o Country #1 – 25 points
▪ Background, progress, challenges, view of childhood, analysis of at least 3
scholarly references and 2 primary source materials
o Country #2 – 25 points
▪ Background, progress, challenges, view of childhood, analysis of at least 3
scholarly references and 2 primary source materials
