Question Description
How is Foucault’s questioning of the repressive hypothesis in The History of Sexuality, Volume One: An Introduction an example of what he argued for in “What Is Enlightenment?” published in 1984? How does he take an attitude of critique toward what we commonly think about sexuality and repression? To write this essay, compare and contrast Foucault’s argument with Kant’s troubling of this question two hundred years earlier with the publication of “What Is Enlightenment?” Remember, there are important similarities between these two essays, with the same title, as well as differences.
