This week, you will begin your UDL Playbook by completing the first section. Begin by explaining the principle of engagement and its significance to teaching and learning. Describe how this principle has implications for curriculum and instruction.
Detail a minimum of three instructional strategies for each segment of a lesson:
the launch,
the working session, and
the closure or approach to showing what was learned in the lesson.
Write a scenario of a lesson where engagement was not considered, then rewrite the scenario (same lesson content, teacher, and students) where the principle of engagement was practiced by the teacher. Your scenario should paint a picture of what was done differently and how it facilitated student engagement. You are not designing a lesson, but rather telling a story about a segment of a lesson (for example, the launch, working session, or closure). You may use the template included in this week’s resources to help you format your playbook.
Length: The first section of the UDL Playbook (3 pages). All components of the template should be included, but the design may be your own.
References: Include a minimum of 3 scholarly resources, attached as a separate page to your first section of the UDL playbook.
The completed assignment should address all of the assignment requirements, exhibit evidence of concept knowledge, and demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the content presented in the course.
