Over the past several weeks we have discussed bullying, compassion, empathy, emotional regulation, and how differences in learning and behavior might impact socioemotional development. This discussion will cover assessment of peer relationships. This research can be instrumental in helping teachers and parents intervene to aid in friendship development and reduction of bullying and peer victimization. The peer nomination technique/peer nomination inventory is/are popular ways to collect this information. This can be done several ways and is explained well in both the article and the brief chapter below. Your text doesn’t expand on this topic so you will find below a brief article discussing different ways to measure/assess peer relationships. The second link is for a short and easy to read chapter that gives a great overview of the terminology, how the measurements work and why it is so important.
