1. Operational planning entails description of the milestone and the conditions that are necessary for success. In addition, operational planning also describe how objectives and tactical goals will be achieved during the given operation period. Operational plans are useful in budgeting and planning. They are also important in sharing of resources because they describe the mission vision and the goals. Operational plans also entails program activities and the program objectives. Operational planning seeks to answer the following questions. Where are we now and where do we want to be within a specified period of time? It also seeks to answer the question on how do we get there and what are we going to use to measure our progress.
2. One of the mst common method of operational planning include the convection operational planning strategy. However, it must be noted that it is not normally used for every company, but only companies that are well suited with resources. The model works for organizations that have a stable external environment. The second best operational planning method is the issue based strategic operational planning. It is a good model for those companies that lack enough resources. Therefore, it is a strategy that is used to address the little successes within the company or major issues. It is also a short term model of planning as it may last for only 6-12 months.
3. Consultation is very important in operational planning since it gives you the chance to verify and confirm certain aspects of the program. It must be noted that visions and missions are not achieved as an individual department but through the entire team. For that reason every department in the organization needs to be consulted when drawing up an operational plan. That also makes it easy to distribute resources and also to budget for the program. Moreover, the consulted departments also develop a sense of belonging and ownership for the company.
4. Some of the most important people that must approve the operational plan include the investors and the shareholders. These are the people who own the company and therefore it is their money and resources that is at stake. You must get their approval before proceeding with the program. In addition, the employees will be the people to deliver the program. They must also be in tandem with the operational plan. Getting their approval and their promise that they will work on the project is very crucial and very necessary.
5. Key performance indicators helps the company to understand and evaluate how the company is moving. The indicators are therefore important in measuring the extent at which the objectives are being achieved. For example, the financial metrics are some of the important ley performance indicators. They may include profits, cost of goods sold, cost, return on investment amongst others. These metrics helps in showing the financial performance of the company at a certain level. Customer metrics is also another key performance indicator that can be used. They include customer satisfaction and retention, net promoter score, customer lifetime value amongst many others. These metrics are useful in identifying the level of customer interaction with the company.
6. Contingency planning is aimed at ensuring that the operation plan does not collapse in case of a disaster are any challenge. For example, massive withdrawal of employees from the organization or losses in terms of sales may create a delay in the operational plan and program. As a planner one must be able to cater for such challenging emergencies. That helps in ensuring that the plan and the program continue without interruption.
7. As already hinted earlier all parties must be on board in order to ensure that the operational plan is s success. That is because delivery of the program is usually in stages that requires every individual’s contribution. For that reason, the shareholders and all the departmental leaders and the employees must agree to ensure that the whole process is a success. A failure in one unit will definitely cause a failure in the whole program. Weekly meetings or monthly or even quarterly meetings can be used in revisiting the objectives and the level at which they have been achieved or not. If not so strategic changes can be made at an earlier stage to facilitate smooth running of the program.
8. Sound knowledge in budgeting and financing is very crucial for operational planning. That is because with prior knowledge it is necessary for the program to allocate the small available resources to the crucial and important segments of the program. In addition, with proper budgeting and financing some bits of the profits from the program can be used to finance the remaining parts of the project. However, without the knowledge allocation of resources becomes difficult and therefore in most cases the program delays due to lack of finances.
9. Physical resources and services must be acquired through the guidelines of the organizational policies and procedures. Organizational policies and procedures include the series of steps that must be undertaken before getting approval to purchase or acquire an equipment, machine, or any asset for the company. The procedures also depend on the type of asset or service that will be acquired. Normally, for huge assets that will cost the company huge amount of money a lengthy bureaucratic process is usually involved. Most of such approvals will always demand a meeting with the board of governors to seek approval and also to convince the board on how the asset is going to assist the company to increase their sales and consequently increase profit margins.
10. One of the functions of a manager is to review and monitor the extent at which the program objectives and goals are being achieved. One of the ways to achieve that is through setting targets. Target setting process is integral. It can be done through individual employee or through departmental leaders. That gives the leaders and definitely the employee the responsibility of working hard and attaining their targets. Such programs and plans help in acquiring the objectives and plans of the program.
11. An effective coach is someone who has the passion of converting poor performers in the business into better performers. An effective coach must possess a good teaching ability. That is the coach must be able to understand individual student and their areas of weaknesses. Once that is established the coach is able to work on the weaknesses and improve the performance of the employee. The coach must also be diligent, hardworking, patient, strict, and a good motivator. Proper learning requires reinforcement that is either positive or negative. A good coach should know when to include reinforcement in order to motivate poor performers.

A company should therefore guard and protect intellectual property rights of an employee since that will act as a guide in promoting invention and innovation within the company.

Some of the policies include the fact that if a vacancy or a post arises the consideration is to be given to staff whose posts are redundant or for whom are seeking redeployment. All appointments will be done only upon advertisement and applications made on the relevant fields. The ethics section of the company requires that the ethics and integrity of the company is maintained. The policy also requires that persons making their applications have all the elements of person specification. That include the knowledge or the skills that is required for the job and the necessary qualifications. They must also show heir experience and their aptitude values while submitting their applications. All applications must be done online and submitted before the deadline. All applications made after the deadline are not usually considered regarding the level of qualification.
3. Developing recruitment strategy: sourcing of candidates will be done on the internet. That will entail the website of the company and also the social media platform. Selection on the social media platform is important in understanding the level of maturity and the type of characteristic an employee may have. In addition, selection and sourcing of employees will also be done on the university and colleges graduation list. Selection and sourcing can also be done based on the employees on internship. Once advertisements are done and applications received the assessment of the candidates begin. Priority is first given to current employees and staff needing redeployment. Priority is then given to new applicants who have passed according to merit. The heads of department are allowed to meet and scrutinize the applications upon which the best candidates will be chosen. During the process of selection monitoring is done in terms of age, sex, race, religion to ensure that not one ethic group is selected. In addition, the aim is also to ensure that people of the same sex and gender do not dominate the selection. That is in accordance to ethics and integrity policies that requires a fair and equitable selection process. After selection the applicants are usually invited to the interviews. The interviews are usually done with respective heads of departments who eventually end up with the best candidates. After that the selected new employees are engaged in a series of training for the first six months. That is aimed at ensuring that they join the working pool when they have enough experience as well as having enough knowledge on the objectives and goals of the company.
