Conduct sufficient and comprehensive research to
address each of the following sections of your paper:
o Introduction
Clearly state the health
problem being explored and define and key terms or concepts using reputable
sources/citations. Briefly introduce
your priority population and the purpose of your analysis.
Using Healthy People 2020, or other similar
planning goals, detail what “should” be happening in relation to the health
problem.

People 2020, be sure to cite it correctly.

o Current National and Local Trends Regarding
the Health Problem
Using relevant and recent data,
share the following (a) national rate of the morbidity/mortality, (b) the state
rate of the morbidity/mortality, (c) the county rate of the
morbidity/mortality, and (d) the county rate of the morbidity/mortality.
With the data available, you
should “drill down” from the broad population to your priority population. Note, a, b, c, and d may not be available for
all health problems – however, you must find data that compares the broad
population to your priority population.
Finally, present trend data
demonstrating whether the rates have improved over time or has the health
problem grown.

o Demonstrate the Health Problem (Problem
Statement)
Clearly state whether national
and local rates better than or worse than Health People 2020 goals, or other
similar planning goals that you have identified. In addition, compare local rates to state
rates, local rates to national rates, and local rates to the rates found in
neighboring or similar communities.
Pro Tip: If these comparisons of data do not demonstrate a health
problem, you must identify another health problem.
o Consequences if the Problem is Not
Addressed
Using relevant and recent
literature, comprehensively describe what will happen if the health problem is
not addressed. Consider the impacts on
individuals, families, communities, and even economies.
Pro Tip: Be comprehensive and rely on a number of sources for this
section – and cite each and every claim made!
o Conclusion
Your conclusion should be persuasive
in nature, clearly reiterate your strongest points in supporting the
identification of your health problem, and serve as a call to action to address
the health problem being experienced by your priority population.
