Any process is the number of activities done together, as the number of activities increases work increases. When it comes to life cycle phases it is recommended to keep it less as the number of phases increases as the project managers have important works like managing projects. As the number of phases increases the paper work increases and the meetings increases instead of wasting their time in paper work and meeting project managers have productive work to be done. The idle life cycle phases in an EPM system are as follows.

Initial phase: It is the first phase in the life cycle where the goals, objective and scope of the project is known the questions like why the project? What the project? is for are answered which over all gives clear understanding of the project.

Planning and development Phase: In this phase plan or strategy is decided. A plan should be made which is accurate, realistic and easily executable. Planning the resources ad availability. Once the planning is done then the development starts.

Review and control phase: It is the last phase of the cycle in this phase the projects implementation is always monitored and any deviation in implementation from plan are noticed and changes are made.
