Separation of powers is one of the most important principles in the American government. Discuss why it is important to have a neutral and nonbiased Supreme Court.   Next, is it possible to have such a thing as a neutral and unbiased court? Explain your position. REPLY TO MY CLASSMATE’S RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE QUESTIONS AND EXPLAIN WHY YOU AGREE? (A MINIMUM OF 125 WORDS or MORE EACH QUESTION) It is very important to have a neutral Supreme Court. It is important because without being neutral, one justice might make a decision based on their own beliefs and values. Let us take abortion for an example. If one of the Supreme Court justices is a devoted Christian and thinks abortion is wrong, their interpretation of the law could be different than another. It is important to decide rulings based on the literature and wording of the constitution. Whether the justice is against abortion or a certain issue should not be a variable when it comes decision time, only the law. I think it is possible to have an unbiased Supreme Court, however, justices are appointed by the President, and I see that being a problem with staying neutral. Presidents appoint their favorites based on their agendas. It would be foolish to think that the justices they pick will not weigh on the side of the political party that appointed them. Another way that is fair, unbiased, and neutral to pick justices could help the situation. However, I never hear much in the news or anywhere that says we have a biased justice. Something to look further into.
