Favorite places are unique. They provide a certain comfort that cannot be generated anywhere else. When the stress of the day has got you down, your favorite place is there for you to cheer you up. Some people choose vacation spots or restaurants as their favorite place, which can be unfortunate for them since they aren’t there that often. Favorite places can be used for many things. They help us think, we feel at peace, and they make us happy.

I would say then, that the closer your favorite place is to you, the better.
That is why, if faced to pick a place to be at the moment, I would choose my house. I believe that a reason a certain place is somebody’s favorite is that it makes them feel relaxed, and being at home is my best way to do that. When I have a long day, I love to go home and unwind. My favorite experience from this is that feeling I get from taking off my shoes after being on my feet all day.

At home, I can peacefully rest on my couch while watching a good TV show, which to me is my nirvana. I feel so unhooked from the struggles of day-to-day life, getting to lie in that perfect state between being awake and asleep.
This is my absolute favorite way to cool down after a long day. Don’t you hate it when things are always changing and you have no idea what is going on? I can’t speak for others, but I love consistency, which is another reason of why I love being at home.
I can always count on there being a place to sleep, not being disturbed, and having available food. I have created a robotic routine of getting home, taking off my shoes, grabbing a snack, and doing something entertaining. If your favorite place is a restaurant, the people will be constantly changing, never having the same customers in there at the same time twice. At home however, I know exactly who’s there and when they will be gone.
Sure I’ll add variations to my life at home, but consistency helps me to feel at peace with myself since I don’t have to be constantly planning on what to do next. Being able to make something unique and your own is a great experience. At a water park or restaurant, I can’t redecorate or add things to it. At home though, I have the freedom to make things how I want them to be (if my parents allow, of course). My house is filled with so much diversity and unique items that you can’t really have anywhere else in such a great amount. Everything I own has a story that I know and I treasure it for that. Doing what I want to my room such as adding decorations, tools or whatever is what makes it so special to me.
My house is sentimental. It helps me relax, is always relatively consistent, and is unique. Nothing can ever replace the feeling that I get from my home. I spend most of my time alive at my house, and I prefer it that way. All of the different joys I get from being at home all mix together to create a bubbling mixture of calmness, and to me that is what really make my house my favorite. All of the reasons for why I love being at home combine to make me feel calm. I challenge you to reflect on this and to ask yourself, “Where do I really feel at peace the most?” In my opinion, the answer is your favorite place.
