This assignment is designed to introduce non-music students to basic listening skills and will assist them in being able to determine musical structures and forms. It will allow students to demonstrate their comprehension of the basic music theory introduced in Covach and Flory’s textbook and in the lessons. If you need to, revisit your lecture notes from weeks 1 and 2 and Covach and Flory’s “Introduction,” specifically the “What to Listen for in Rock” section, as these offer a good template for the kind of analysis you are to do here.
