There are reasons why a particular movie is watched over and over again. The reasons could either be because the movie has an impact every time it is being watched or the movie reminds one of unforgettable events. Mamma Mia is a movie associated with the “ABBA” musical group. It is a 1975 ABBÅ song. The musical was first sung, and as a result of the fact that the musical went viral, they decided to create the movie itself. Mamma Mia is a musical movie that tells the story of a young lady who wants her father to be present on her wedding day in order to give her away to her husband. Sophie’s mother had an affair with three men which led her into not knowing the real father of her daughter. Sophie thought she needed a father on her wedding day, so she went on an adventure to find the three men her that is likely to be her so called father. The movie is filled with interesting songs that defined the characters and represented many roles.
There are movies that are based on realities, music, adventures, comedies and so on. Mamma Mia happened to be among the movies associated with music. The movie has a lot of merit that was interpreted by the songs that are played in various scenes. The qualities the movies had was based on the fact that it made use of most of the ABBA’s songs.
First of all, at the beginning of the movie, the song “I have a dream” by Westlife was used to start the first scene. This song represented the fact that she needed to know who her real father and as a result of this, she sent letters to the three men she knew was with her mother. Another song that was used in the movie was “honey-honey” by ABBA. This song was sung to represent her mother being so love with the three men that she flirted with. This was the time she realized that she has to figure out who among the three men is her father. Some of ABBA’s songs that was sang in the movie includes, money, money, money, Chiquitita, Dancing Queen, Lay all your Love on me, Voulez Vous, S.O.S, Does your Mother know, Slipping through my Fingers, The Winner takes it all, I do, I do, I do, I do, I do, When all is Said and Done, and Waterloo respectively.
When songs are used to represent different scenes in movies, it means the movie has something to do with musicals. All throughout the movie, there were a lot of songs that was used to represent different scenes. There were so many good and bad reviews on this particular movie, “Mamma Mia.” One of the reviews on this movie goes thus: “The musical are infectiously entertaining and the performances top-notch but tends to become a bit too saturated especially when it seems to dilute the story/plot. Overall, Mamma Mia! is a solid musical to keep you dancing and singing until you literally and physically cannot any longer. 3.3/5” (EugeneBernabe). This review was written by someone who thinks the movie is great. I agree with this review because the movie was associated with ABBA musical which is a Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm in 1972. This group is an effective musical group that has created an impact in the area of music today. Every song in the movie was used to represent cheering up, sad and happy moments.
