semester, but do include page numbers following
    direct quotations.

    your analysis of the texts.
Respond to ONE of the below three topics.

    2. In her talk, “The Danger of a Single Story” Chimamanda Adichie says, ““Stories
matter. Many stories matter. Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign, but
stories can also be used to empower and to humanize. Stories can break the dignity of a
people, but stories can also repair that broken dignity.” Discuss how Adichie’s claim is
demonstrated in any two texts we’ve studied this semester.
    3. In Soucouyant, the protagonist describes memory as “a bruise still tender” (p 32).
Explain the meaning of this metaphor, and discuss how this comparison between
memory and a bruise is represented in any two texts we studied this semester.
(You may discuss the novel as one of the two texts, but you are not required to.)
