Discuss specific health care funding policies and discuss them in terms of utilitarian theory.
Deliverables
Participation in all discussions is imperative to learning in this forum. You are expected to participate in the discussions and make postings on a MINIMUM of two separate postings per week: Initial post to the discussion board is due by Wednesday at 11:59 pm PST. Initial post must be a minimum of 200 words. Your 2nd & 3rd discussion postings (peer posts) should be thoughtful responses to peers and are due by Sunday 11:59pm PST. Peer posts must be made on separate days from one another. Peer posts must be a minimum of 150 words each.
Initial discussion board post requires two credible references (APA 7th edition) to be cited to support your response. One must be a peer reviewed article. A minimum of one reference is required for your peer responses.
When replying to a posting on the discussion forum, you are to respond to the person by salutation, name and refer their comments in the posting.
To add value to your response, you must give an example of what the prior post had described, provide a different perspective of the topic posted, or expand upon the idea posted in the message by including more detail and depth.
Step 1
Post a response to the discussion board.
Consider a moral decision that you or someone you know made on the basis of likely consequences or outcomes.
Briefly describe the circumstances surrounding the situation and the decision that was made.
Determine whether the decision was most similar to ethical egoism, act utilitarianism, or rule utilitarianism. Explain the rationale for your choice.
Explain why the other theories do not apply.
Step 2
Read and respond to other student’s posts.
Read other students’ posts and respond to at least two of them. In addition to other comments you may have, address the following questions in your response posts:
Do you agree with the identification of the act described? Explain your reasoning.
If you disagree with the student’s choice, describe the identification you would give the outcome.
Describe an alternative outcome that may have occurred based on a different theory.
