a clearly articulated thesis statement that states this claim.
During your analysis, pay special attention to the multiple connotations of specific words, to the
flow of dialogue, to punctuation, to imagery and figural language, and to the tone of the passage
(the narrator’s voice). Consider how each of these affect the meaning of the passage and how
they resonate with other ideas, passages, or themes in the literary work. You are expected to
depart from, expand upon, or significantly rework ideas and arguments developed as a class.
All papers should be typed, double-spaced, in 12-point Times font, with 1-inch margins on all
sides, and stapled. All papers should have a header that includes your name, a title, and a
bibliography. All pages should be numbered.
