For those of you who have never used a citation for a video – this is how it is done:
For the Author you can use the main speaker’s name for instance Fitzgerald, or the title of the video. The timestamp is located at the bottom of the video and is the time at which the information is first mentioned.
Parenthetical: (Author’s last name Timestamp)
Narrative: Author’s last name (Timestamp)
Sample of an exact quote citation: (Swim, 2016, p.103)
If it is not an exact quote and you are paraphrasing – leave out the page #
Criteria: A strong essay will include material as stated above – which is of course the the Dr. Fitzgerald video material and overall from at least 2 additional sources mentioned one of which must be from chapter 2.
Your opinion is valuable. You must include your opinion in the final paragraph (have you had any experience with what has been mentioned as a para, as a future educator or para do you think Fitzgerald’s comments are valid and why?) however avoid phrases like, I loved or it was the best etc. A strong opinion is supported with citations. Overall be sure to use citations in the body of your essay to support what you write throughout the essay.
NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
-An essay without citations may earn a minimal passing grade.
-Use the information from your intro English course when you use citations or go to the website above.
-You should also see the Rubric which is at the end of the syllabus.
-Be sure to proofread carefully (I’m not concerned about a misspelled word here or there, however the reader must be able to understand what you mean to state. Also, be sure you have included all of the elements required: correct amount of citations, opinion part.
