Imagine you and your manager will be working out of the Brazil office in a couple of months. You have heard from colleagues that the organizational culture in that office is much different than your American office.
Do some research about what to expect in Brazilian business culture. You and your manager will be working with team members only from the Brazil office so you must be prepared.
Follow the steps below and write an email to your manager about your findings. Conduct research on what it is like to work in Brazil. For example, how do employees in Brazil communicate in the office? How do the employees dress?
Compare what you found out about Brazil business culture with how business is conducted in the United States. Answer the following questions about how U.S. business typically operates versus that of Brazil:
How are decisions made in the office? Who makes those decisions?
Describe meeting times and their importance.
How do co-workers greet each other in the office?
What is the dress code?
Include a list of six to eight tips to help you and your manager be successful in this new workplace culture. But remember, this is a formal email to your manager so follow the rules of business writing.
