Identify a service agency in the US that recognizes diversity among
the aging population of their communities by providing services that
meet the needs of diverse populations or are geared towards segments of
specific populations (e.g. race, ethnicity, religion, rural isolation,
sexual orientation, socioeconomic class). For example, here is an
article from the Washington Post, “Senior Centers Respond to Increased Diversity Among Older Population,”
that describes how senior centers and nursing homes in the Washington
Metro area are adjusting to meet the needs of people who speak many
different languages. Once you have identified the agency:
Describe the agency’s history, mission and funding sources.
Identify the populations that they serve.
Analyze how their services impact the designated populations
Please make sure that you do not duplicate an agency that has been
discussed in a previous post of this discussion. To ensure clarity,
please clearly identify the agency in your subject heading. Do not
forget to cite your sources using APA style. Once you have posted
information, review your classmates’ posts and substantively comment on
at least two of the agencies.
Responses only needs to be 100 words

participate in all aspects of society, including the option to live at
home. The purpose and funding levels for such programs remained largely
the same over time, but the creation of ACL has enhanced the ability of
these programs to work collectively to advance their common objective:
helping older adults and people with disabilities of all ages to live
where and with whom they choose and fully participate in their
communities.”
