Hello Everyone
My definition of wellness has changed significantly as a result of this course. I have always considered myself a reasonably healthy person, but I have realized that there is so much more to being well than just eating right and exercising. True wellness requires a holistic approach that includes taking care of your mind, body, and spirit. It is about more than just physical health; it is also about emotional and mental health.
The four lenses approach the study of wellness concerning the individual and society by investigating how these factors affect a person’s overall health and wellbeing. For instance, the physical lens looks at how an individual’s physical health affects their wellbeing, while the mental lens looks at how a person’s mental health affects their overall wellbeing. On the other hand, the emotional lens looks at how a person’s emotions affect their overall wellbeing, while the spiritual lens focuses on how their spirituality affects them.
The four lenses represent a way of seeing wellness by providing a more holistic view of what it means to be well. Rather than just looking at physical health, the four lenses approach looks at all aspects of a person’s life and how they affect their overall wellbeing (Stoewen, 2017). This includes looking at a person’s mental, emotional, spiritual health, and physical health.
The implications of wellness in the future are significant. As a considerable number of people become aware of the importance of taking care of their mind, body, and spirit, we will see a shift in how society views health and wellbeing(Edington, Schultz, Pitts, & Camilleri, 2016). This will lead to more people making healthy choices, such as eating nutritious foods and exercising regularly. We will also see a decrease in the number of people suffering from chronic illness and disease.
I will implement what I have learned in this course into my own life by committing myself to taking care of my mind, body, and spirit. I will make time each day for some form of self-care, whether it is exercise, meditation, or just reading a good book. Also, I will make an effort to eat more nutritious foods and exercise regularly.
